"Martin - Martin Semken started his landscaping career as an apprentice gardener at the City of Ringwood before creating Semken Landscaping in 1987 and was then joined by his best friend, Mark Bence, a year later. Today Semken Landscaping operates all over Victoria with more than 75 staff servicing over 500 garden maintenance clients and running 12 construction crews. Martin’s commitment to promoting the landscaping industry especially through the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is highlighted by more than 80 medals, and 4 Best in Show gardens. Martin and the team at Semken Landscaping have created an environment that staff enjoy working in, with many staff now being employed for over 10 years, but he also takes great pride in former members of the Semken Landscaping family now owning and operating successful businesses. While Martin continues to have many passions in life, especially his family, skiing and cycling, he still works hard to make Semken Landscaping all it can be, all whilst promoting professionalism in the industry through his many endeavours. For this, we recognise Martin’s services to industry with the Award of Merit."
