Recipient: Ian Brown

"Ian started working with Mt William Advanced Tree Nursery in 1976 and became a partner in the business in the early 1980’s. Since then he has taken over the development and management of the nursery implementing a number of innovative ideas to propel the nursery to greater heights. Ian’s passion for the industry is illustrated by his willingness share his expertise and time – he regularly invites student Groups to the nursery where he spends the day mentoring them about trees and best nursery practices, he sponsors the Victorian Tree Industry’s annual tree-climbing event, and he grows specialty stock for MIFGS exhibitors. A Member of both Nursery & Garden Industry of Victoria (NGIV) & the Tree & Shrub Growers of Victoria for many years, Ian also served on the Landscaping Victoria Board for 4 years. Throughout Victoria many Landscapers, designers, and arborists have contacted Ian for advice on their projects. He has always been more than willing to share his knowledge and assist them in any way he can."
